PKR depreciates beyond 141 per USD

April 2, 2019 (MLN): Pakistani Rupee (PKR) depreciated beyond the 141 per USD level in early trade at the interbank market today, with trades reported at PKR 141.10 per USD, so far.

The local currency is currently quoted at PKR 141.06/11, exhibiting a depreciation of 12 paisa.

In the open market the Dollar crossed the Rs.143 mark and was being quoted between Rs.142.50/143.50.

The gradual depreciation in the value of PKR is in anticipation of a potential deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as the market expects the rupee to depreciate further as the REER index at the end of February had increased to 103.3124.
