PKR edges higher against USD

November 06, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) posted a marginal gain against the US dollar in the interbank market on Friday, appreciating by 0.92 paisa to close at PKR 276.66 compared to the previous session's closing rate of PKR 276.67.

During the trading session, the local currency recorded an intraday high (bid) of 276.85 and a low (ask) of 276.65.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the US dollar at PKR 277.20 for buying and PKR 279.70 for selling.

Against other major currencies, the rupee recorded notable gains against the Euro, appreciating by Rs1.55 or 0.50% to settle at PKR 309.50, compared to the previous closing of PKR 311.05.

Similarly, the local currency strengthened by Rs2.20 or 0.59% against the British Pound, closing at PKR 370.63 against the previous rate of PKR 372.83.

The rupee also gained 30.16 paisa or 0.09% against the Swiss franc, settling at PKR 338.57.

However, the local unit weakened against the Japanese Yen, declining by 0.34 paisa or 0.19% to close at PKR 1.7520 compared to PKR 1.7486 in the previous session.

Against the Chinese Yuan, the rupee depreciated by 0.26 paisa closing at PKR 41.48.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani rupee appreciated by 0.35 paisa against the Saudi Riyal to settle at PKR 73.71, while gaining 0.76 paisa against the UAE Dirham to close at PKR 75.32.

Cumulatively, the rupee has appreciated by Rs1.50 or 0.54% against the US dollar during the current fiscal year. Its gain has reached Rs3.46 or 1.25% since the beginning of the current calendar year.

In the money market, the benchmark six-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates (KIBOR) increased by 1 basis point each to 12.32% and 12.57%, respectively.
