PKR strengthens to 276.67 against USD

November 05, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 3.39 paisa against the US dollar in the interbank market on Thursday, closing at PKR 276.67 compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 276.70.

During the trading session, the local currency recorded an intraday high (bid) of 276.75 and a low (ask) of 276.65.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.25 for buying and PKR 279.75 for selling.

Against other major currencies, the rupee also posted gains against most currencies.

The local unit appreciated by 7.96 paisa or 0.03% against the Euro, settling at PKR 311.05 compared to the previous closing of PKR 311.13.

Against the British Pound, the rupee gained 18.41 paisa or 0.05% to close at PKR 372.83, compared to PKR 373.01 in the previous session.

Similarly, the rupee strengthened by 33.23 paisa or 0.10% against the Swiss Franc, closing at PKR 338.87.

Against the Japanese Yen, the local currency gained 0.14 paisa or 0.08%, settling at PKR 1.7486 compared to PKR 1.7500 a day earlier.

However, the rupee depreciated by 2.57 paisa or 0.06% against the Chinese Yuan, closing at PKR 41.48 compared to PKR 41.45 previously.

The local currency also gained 0.80 paisa against the Saudi Riyal to close at PKR 73.71, while it appreciated by 1.03 paisa against the UAE Dirham to settle at PKR 75.33.

During the current fiscal year, the rupee has appreciated by PKR 1.49 or 0.54% against the US dollar. Its gain so far in the current calendar year stands at PKR 3.45 or 1.25%.

Meanwhile, in the money market, the benchmark six-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates declined by 11 basis points to 12.31% and 12.56%, respectively.
