November 07, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) weakened by 5.38 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 277.95 per USD, compared to previous closing of 277.89.
Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.10 and a low (ask) of 278.00.
The local unit continues its stable journey against the mighty Dollar, despite the US Dollar Index (DXY) surging 1.61% after Donald Trump was elected the 47th president of the United States yesterday.
In today's session, the index dropped by 0.26%.
In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 276.92 for buying and 278.79 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 17.82 paisa or 0.06% against the Euro, closing at 298.92 compared to the previous value of 299.10.
Against the British Pound, PKR fell by 82.00 paisa or 0.23% to 359.31 compared to 358.49 a day ago.
The local unit rose 50.13 paisa or 0.16% against Swiss franc to close at 317.45.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value deteriorated 0.05 paisa or 0.03% to close the session at 1.8046 versus 1.8041 a day ago.
Pakistani Rupee increased 1.41 paisa or 0.04% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.79 from 38.81.
The local currency weakened by 0.84 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 73.98. While it weakened by 1.47 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.67.
During the current fiscal year, PKR has increased against the US Dollar by 39.51 paisa or 0.14%. While it has increased 3.91 rupees or 1.41% so far this calendar year.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2 bps to 13.02% and 13.27%.
