PKR appreciates marginally against USD

April 9, 2019 (MLN): The value of Pakistani Rupee (PKR) appreciated by over 1 paisa against US dollar (USD) in the interbank market on Tuesday, as its closing value stood at Rs. 141.38 as compared to last session’s closing of Rs. 141.39.

On the other hand, the local currency depreciated by 53 paisa against Pound Sterling (GBP) as it closed at Rs. 184.98 against previous session’s closing of Rs. 184.45.

Moreover, against EUR, the interbank market closed with Rupee quoted at Rs. 159.39 which marked a depreciation of 57 paisa.

The Open Market Rate for USD was quoted at 142.00/142.80.

In the money market, the SBP conducted a 3 day Open Market Operation to mop-up funds, but did not receive any bids. Meanwhile the Overnight repo rate towards close of session was 10.65/10.90 percent and 1 Week rate was 10.70/10.85 percent.
