PKR appreciates by 24 paisa against the US dollar

June 22, 2023 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 24.66 paisa against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session as the currency settled the trade at PKR 286.73 per USD, compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 286.97 per USD.

The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 286.84 and a low (ask) of 286.82.

In the open market, Exchange Companies quoted the dollar at 291 for buying and 294 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR lost 1.54 Rupees against the Euro, closing at 315.17 compared to the previous value of 313.63.

The British Pound became more expensive by 90.48 Paisa closing at 366.04 compared to 365.13 from a day ago.

The Swiss franc saw gains of 1.08 rupees, closing at 320.69 compared to 319.60 from the previous session.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR gained 0.09 paisa, closing at 2.01 versus 2.02 a day ago.

The Chinese Yuan gained 3.82 paisa, closing at 39.93 against 39.89 from the previous session.

The Saudi Riyal decreased in value by 6.82 paisa from 78.1305 a day ago to 78.06.

The U.A.E Dirham closed at 76.43 with a loss of 6.99 paisa from its values of 76.50 a day ago.

During the current financial year, PKR has depreciated against the Dollar by 81.88 rupees or 28.56%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR depreciate by 60.3 rupees or 21.03%.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6-Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer Rates (Kibor) inched up by 1 bps to 21.9% and 22.15%.
