Pakitan’s Trade Deficit at USD 31.82 Billion in FY19

Jul 12, 2019 (MLN): Pakistan's trade deficit for July-June FY19 was USD 31.82 billion compared to a deficit of USD 37.58 billion from the corresponding period from FY18.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the trade deficit for the month of June 2019 was recorded at USD 2.647 billion compared to a deficit of USD2.94 billion from May 2019 showing an improvement of 9.97 percent.

Compared to June 2018 deficit of USD 3.77 billion, the trade numbers improved by 29.79 percent

Exports decreased by 18.32 percent to USD 1.717 billion compared to USD 2.102 billion in May 2019.

Similarly compared to June 2018 exports decreased by 8.77 percent

Imports in June 2019 decreased by 13.45 percent, clocking in at USD 4.364 billion compared to USD 5.042 billion in May 2019.

Similarly compared to June 2018 imports decreased by 22.79 percent

Overall the 12 month exports stood at USD 22.979 billion compared to USD 23.212 from the corresponding period of last year, showing a decrease of 1 percent. Similarly Imports during the period decreased by 9.86 percent to USD 54.799 billion compared to USD 60.795 from the same period of FY18.
