Pakistan's first cashless transport ticketing system launched in Karachi

October 10, 2024 (MLN): Sindh Infrastructure Development Company Limited (SIDCL) has launched Pakistan’s first ‘Cashless Transport Ticketing System’ for their Orange Line and Green Line buses in Karachi. 

United Bank Limited (PSX: UBL), as SIDCL's partner in the project, shared this development in a recent social media post.

The bank has covered the L3 certification cost of the unattended POS machines that are installed at all their stations.

Furthermore, UBL is their main and only bank managing cash collection for all their stations (22 stations on the Green Line & 5 stations on the Orange Line) on a daily basis.

The event was the inauguration of Pakistan’s first-ever unattended POS machines. 

This would lead to a wider collaboration on the e-ticketing platforms across further lines.

The event was attended by Arif Akmal Saifie, GE UBL International, Shiraz Azam, Head Transaction Banking Pakistan UBL, Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi, Vice Chancellor NED University/Board Member (Chief Guest) and Abdul Aziz, SIDCL Managing Committee Member/GM Ops, along with other SIDCL and UBL Management.
