Pakistan, Saudi Arabia expand partnership at LEAP 2025

February 10, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have further strengthened their digital and economic collaboration at the Pak-Saudi Business Forum, held alongside LEAP 2025.

The event served as a platform to explore investment opportunities, foster technological partnerships, and enhance bilateral trade in the digital economy.

The event gathered key business leaders, government officials, and technology experts from both countries, including Deema Al Yahya, Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), underscoring the significance of this growing partnership.

Minister of State for IT & Telecom, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, highlighted Pakistan’s thriving ICT sector, noting a 28% growth in ICT exports in the first six months of FY 2024-25, reaching $1.86 billion.

She emphasized Pakistan’s increasing digital transformation and record participation at LEAP 2025, expressing hope for long-term business agreements and partnerships, according to the press release.

Minister Khawaja also outlined major policy advancements, including the AI Policy, National Fiberization Policy, and Semiconductor Policy, marking key milestones in Pakistan’s tech-driven future.

She highlighted the passing of the Digital Nation Act 2025 as a transformative step and acknowledged the DCO’s support in fostering Pakistan’s digital growth.

Announcing the upcoming Digital Foreign Direct Investment (DFDI) Forum in Islamabad, she invited stakeholders to participate in expanding Pak-Saudi cooperation in the tech sector.

She credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership and the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) for driving Pakistan’s digital transformation and investor confidence.

Expressing full support for Saudi Vision 2030, she encouraged Saudi investors to explore opportunities in AI, Fintech, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Computing, emphasizing Pakistan’s cutting-edge technology solutions and skilled workforce.

With over 100 tech companies and 1,000 delegates, Pakistan’s largest-ever participation at LEAP 2025 highlights its expanding global digital footprint and reaffirms its role in strengthening technological and economic ties with Saudi Arabia and beyond.
