May 08, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan expressed its deep gratitude to Turkey for its unwavering support following India’s unprovoked missile strikes.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif made these remarks after receiving a telephone call from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
During the call, Prime Minister Sharif strongly condemned India's missile strikes, which resulted in the martyrdom of 26 innocent men, women, and children.
He described India’s attack as a cowardly assault on Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, which posed a serious threat to the peace and stability of the South Asian region.
He emphasized that such actions were completely unacceptable, as per the press release.
President Erdogan conveyed heartfelt condolences over the loss of lives in Pakistan, reaffirming Turkey’s solidarity with the people of Pakistan.
He also expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s dedication to advancing peace in South Asia.
In response, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to peace in the region, while also stressing the country’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity with full force.
The Prime Minister also categorically rejected India’s attempts to falsely implicate Pakistan in the Pahalgam incident without providing any evidence.
He mentioned that India had ignored Pakistan’s offer for a neutral and transparent international investigation, instead choosing the dangerous path of aggression and irresponsible state behavior.
President Erdogan further shared that Turkish Foreign Minister had spoken to Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, earlier in the day, discussing the ongoing situation in detail.
President Erdogan reiterated Turkey’s support for de-escalation and offered to play a role in facilitating peace efforts as a committed friend of Pakistan.
He concluded by assuring that the Turkish nation was praying for the success of Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives.
