April 23, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan is working with the International Labor Organization to promote the rights of workers.

This was stated by Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain during a meeting with a delegation of the International Trade Union Confederation, headed by Luc Triangle, in Islamabad.

The Minister emphasized the government’s efforts to expand the scope of the Employee Old Age Benefits and the Worker Welfare Fund, aiming to ensure more workers, employees, and the broader labor force can benefit from these initiatives.

He also noted that the National Vocational Technical Training Commission at the federal level, along with Vocational Training Institutes at the provincial level, is actively conducting various training programs.

These initiatives aim to equip the youth with market-relevant skills, helping to create a skilled workforce for the country, as per the press release.

In response, the ITUC Secretary-General praised Pakistan’s democratic values and acknowledged the country’s ongoing initiatives for improving the welfare of workers and employees.

He also extended an invitation to the Federal Minister to participate in the upcoming International Labor Conference in recognition of Pakistan’s efforts.
