Pakistan on sound economic footing: Shaukat Tarin

March 18, 2022 (MLN): The latest data of Sensitive Price Index (SPI) and Large-Scale Manufacturing Index (LSMI) indicated that Pakistan is on sound economic footing, Minister for Finance and Revenue, Shaukat Tarin said on Friday.

Taking to his official twitter handle, he said, “Two important data points released today, Industrial output and SPI, both highlighted the sound economic footings.”

He said as per Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), LSMI production grew by 8.2% YoY in January and 7.6% during July-Jan FY22.”

On the other hand, SPI decreased significantly as it down by 1.37% week-on-week to 15% from 21% in December 2021, he said.
