April 24, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan is looking to deepen its understanding of digital asset regulation by studying the United Arab Emirates’ approach to cryptocurrency governance, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb shared in a bilateral meeting with UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs Mohamed Bin Hadi Al Hussaini.

Aurangzeb highlighted Pakistan’s growing interest in digital financial innovation, expressing a desire to learn from the UAE’s regulatory experience in managing crypto assets—a sector gaining momentum across the region.

The discussion took place on the sidelines of the IMF–World Bank Spring Meetings, where the ministers also discussed broader economic cooperation, including investment flows, privatization efforts, and multilateral support under IMF frameworks.

With Pakistan aiming to modernize its financial ecosystem, exploring regulatory best practices in emerging areas like cryptocurrency is becoming central to its reform agenda.
