February 28, 2024 (MLN): Pakistan is focusing on piped gas and considers it crucial to meet the energy needs of the country, the Federal Minister for Energy Muhammad Ali stated during a meeting with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan Atadjan Movlamov to discuss the progress of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India Pipeline (TAPI) project.
The Ambassador also resolved to continue the engagement on the project and extended an invitation for a roadshow that Turkmenistan will be hosting in Paris.
The meeting further discussed the avenues of cooperation in the energy sector between both countries.
TAPI is a natural gas pipeline being developed by the Galkynysh, TAPI Pipeline Company Limited with the participation of the Asian Development Bank.
The project is of immense strategic importance for the region as it has the potential to bring many direct and indirect social, economic, political and environmental benefits.
TAPI Pipeline will be the only source of pipeline gas to each of the three nations.
