Optimism prevails among foreign investors, SCRA end another week in green

February 21, 2019 (MLN): The Specially Convertible Rupee Account (SCRA) position post the week ended February 15, 2019 reflects prevalent optimism amongst foreign investors as net purchase of securities continues for the fourth week straight.

During the last week, net purchase logged in at Rs.1.9 billion, up from Rs.1.6 billion recorded a week earlier. The foreign participants of the local capital markets bought securities worth Rs.8.5 billion against a sale worth Rs.6.6 billion.

Over the week, sale of securities grew by Rs.866 million or 15% whereas the purchase of securities expanded by Rs.1.2 billion or 15.7%.

Other than this the remittances flowing into these accounts during the week was Rs.4.3 billion while outward remittances stand at Rs.1.5 billion.

The closing position of SCRA this week was Rs.28.98 billion.
