February 02, 2021: Minister for Energy Omar Ayub Khan has called for greater US investments in power generation, transmission and distribution, artificial intelligence, renewable and hydel energy.
Talking to US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Pakistan Affairs Lesslie C Viguerie, who called on him in Islamabad, the minister said the present government is making efforts to transform the energy sector.
He says the government has finalized Indicative Generation Capacity Expansion Plan -2047 which emphasizes increasing the share of indigenous sources to reduce the reliance on imported fuel.
The Minister said the government will induct renewable energy-based power plants through open and competitive bidding in a transparent manner and will encourage the transfer of technology.
US Deputy Assistant Secretary Viguerie appreciating the Pakistan government's efforts to revolutionize the energy sector said economic links between both counties will strengthen the Pak-US relationship.
