OGRA proposes 50% surge in gas prices for SNGPL in FY24

June 05, 2023 (MLN): The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has proposed an increase of 50% in price per MMBTU of gas to Rs1,238.68 for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).

Meanwhile, the average prescribed price for Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) is determined as Rs1,350.68 with an increase in price per MMBTU is Rs417.23, up by 45%.

It is pointed out that the average prescribed price determined by OGRA mainly comprises of cost of gas which constitutes approximately over 85% of the determined price. The cost of gas is a pass-through item and is calculated in accordance with the agreement signed between the government and gas producer companies.

The federal government has requested advice on category-wise sale prices.

Any revision, as advised by Federal Government, shall be accordingly notified by OGRA. Till such time the existing category-wise natural gas sale prices shall continue to prevail.
