North cement price up by 15.6% YoY to Rs1

November 03, 2023 (MLN): In the North region, the average cement prices increased by Rs162 or 15.6% YoY per bag to clock in at Rs1,196 as of November 02, 2023, compared to Rs1,034 in the same period last year (SPLY), according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

While on a weekly basis, the average cement prices decreased by Rs5 or 0.42% per bag compared to the average price of Rs1,201 by the week ended October 26, 2023.

City-wise, the largest price increase witnessed in the North was by Faisalabad, depicting a significant increase of 17.6% YoY.

Similarly, prices surged in Rawalpindi and Peshawar by 16.5% YoY each.

Cement prices in Islamabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Sialkot, Multan, Bhawalpur, and Bannu also recorded a massive increase compared to last year's figures.

However, compared with last week, prices in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, and Bannu decreased by 0.6%, 0.7%, 1.7% and 1.7% for the respective cities.

While in other cities, prices remained stable over the week.

In the South region, the cement prices remained relatively stable over the week at an average of Rs1,187 as of November 02, 2023.

The average prices, compared to Rs1,048 in the same period last year (November 03, 2022), increased by 13.2% YoY.

Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Quetta, and Khuzdar witnessed year-over-year increases of 15.8%, 14.6%, 10.1%, 11%, 14.4%, and 13.9% YoY in cement prices, respectively.
