Non-govt sector’s borrowing shrinks sightly over the week

April 23, 2019 (MLN): The non-government sector has accumulated a total net debt of Rs.882.8 billion during ongoing fiscal year (FY19) as of April 12, 2019, reports the State Bank of Pakistan’s weekly data on monetary aggregates.

Compared to last week, the net figure has expanded by Rs.825 million as it was last recorded at Rs.881.98 billion. But against the corresponding period of last year, the net borrowing has increased by 43%.

The non-government sector comprises of the private sector which borrowed Rs.567.1 billion (net), Public Sector Enterprises (PSE’s) which borrowed Rs.314 billion (net) and NBFI’s which borrowed Rs.1.7 billion (net).

Within the private sector, credit to conventional banking branches was Rs.384.2billion, credit to Islamic Banks was Rs.80.4 billion whereas credit to Islamic Branches of conventional banks was around Rs.102.5 billion.
