Nishat Chunian - Technical committee for proposing areas of tariff reduction has been constituted

April 21, 2020 (MNL): Nishat Chunian Power Limited has apprised the Pakistan Stock Exchange regarding various power tariff reduction methods that are being taken by the authorities for the IPPs.

The Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE) in their meeting held on April 2, 2020, constituted a committee under the Chairmanship of the Federal Minister for Energy, Omar Ayub, to deliberate various viable and mutually acceptable options to bring about a reduction in the power tariff.

On April 16, 2002 first meeting between the committee and IPPs including Nishat Chunian Power Limited (NCPL) was held where the finance minister emphasized on the reduction and relief in the cost of electricity and resolution in the quantum of capacity payments.

A technical committee has been constituted to hold consultation with the IPPs on the above-mentioned objective and for seeking recommendations from IPPs on proposed areas of tariff reduction.
