NHA takes lead in road infrastructure development through private sector participation

National Highway Authority (NHA) has taken lead in road infrastructure development through private sector participation.

According to the Authority, it has successfully attracted private sector investment by awarding five projects worth over Rs 144 billion during the last one year. This is more than the average annual Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the country.

The projects in which private sector has been engaged include overlay and modernization of Lahore-Islamabad Motorway, Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway, Sialkot-Lahore Motorway; Multan-Muzaffargarh-DG Khan highway and Habibabad bridge.

The expected revenue earnings from these projects are over Rs 391 billion.
