NEPRA raises fuel charge for XWDISCOs by Rs3.0786/kWh for October

December 06, 2023 (MLN): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has raised the average uniform fuel charge component for Ex-WAPDA Distribution Companies (XWDISCOs) by Rs3.0786/kWh for October, as a part of adjustments following the approved tariff, according to the latest notice issued by the authority today.

Following this hike, the national average uniform fuel charge component for XWDISCOs consumers now stands at Rs10.9724/kWh, compared to the corresponding reference fuel charge component of Rs7.8938/kWh.

The above adjustment shall apply to all the consumer categories except Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) and Lifeline consumers.

Moreover, it shall be separately shown in the consumers' bills based on units billed to the consumers in the month of October 2023.

XWDISCOs shall reflect the fuel charges adjustment in respect of October 2023 in the billing month of December 2023.

While effecting the Fuel Adjustment Charges, the concerned XWDISCOs shall keep in view and strictly comply with the orders of the courts notwithstanding this order.

To recall, a request was issued by CPPA-G via a letter dated November 15, 2023, to make adjustments in the approved tariff of the Ex-WAPDA DISCOs due to variations in fuel charges for October 2023.
