Motorcycle, three-wheeler sales surge 31% YoY in April 2024: PAMA

May 13, 2024 (MLN): Motorcycles and three-wheeler sales in Pakistan increased by 31% YoY in April 2024 to 107,590 units compared to 82,136 units in the same month of last year, the latest data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) showed today.

Likewise, on a month-on-month basis, the sales were recorded 14.94% MoM higher compared to the 93,606 units sold in March 2024.

Cumulatively, in 10MFY24, sales of the respective category clocked in at 941,406 units, 6.5% YoY lower compared to 1.006 million units sold in 10MFY23.

The total production of Motorcycles and three-wheeler in Pakistan was recorded at 98,183 units in April, up 26.76% YoY compared to 77,457 units made in the same month of last year.

On a monthly basis, the production comparison reflects an inverse trend, with production dropping by 3.9% MoM. In the previous month, 102,165 Motorcycles and three-wheeler were manufactured in the country.

Honda continued to solidify its position as the dominant industry leader, with sales of 95,069 units, taking its market share to 88.36% in April 2024.

The brand's sales reflect a growth figure of 18.63% compared to the previous month and 29.30% compared to topline recorded in April 2023.

In 10MFY24, Honda's sales were recorded at 819,752 units, compared to 843,219 units sold in 10MFY23.

The second and third leaders on the list were United Auto Motorcycle and Road Prince Motorcycle, with sales figures of 7,185 and 1,514 units respectively in April 2024.

Following closely, Sazgar sold 1,212 three Wheelers in the review month, down 9.62% MoM, while 2.99 times higher compared to April 2023.

Trucks & Buses

The data released by PAMA shows that a total 198 trucks were sold in April, up 45.59% YoY, while 27.47% lower compared to March 2024.

In the ongoing fiscal year (10MFY24), 1,727 trucks were sold, down by 41% YoY compared to the cummulative data for the previous fiscal year.

Meanwhile, the production clocked in at 193 in April, and 1,694 units in 10MFY24.

ISUZU emerged at the top of sales and production in this segment, with 131 units sold and 123 produced in April 2024.

With respect to buses, sales surged by 93.75% YoY and stood at 31 units in April 2024, compared to 16 units in March 2024.

This takes the total of buses and trucks sale to 229 units, compared to 312 units in previous month and 152 in same month last year.
