February 25, 2025 (MLN): Matco Foods Limited (PSX: MFL) has reported a significant 182% increase in net profit for the half-year ended December 31, 2024, reaching Rs238 million compared to Rs84mn in the same period last year.

The earnings per share (EPS) rose to Rs1.95 from Rs0.69, reflecting strong financial performance despite a decline in sales revenue.

The company’s net sales for the period stood at Rs13 billion, marking a 7.3% decrease from Rs14bn in the corresponding period of 2023.

The reduction in sales was accompanied by an 8.7% decline in the cost of sales, bringing gross profit to Rs1.7bn, a 3.2% increase year-over-year.

Despite the rise in gross profit, operating profit witnessed a marginal decline of 1.5% to Rs1bn due to an 18.7% increase in administrative expenses and a 5.2% rise in selling and distribution expenses.

However, an impressive 545.2% surge in exchange gain, amounting to Rs212mn, and a 158% increase in other income, which stood at Rs63mn, significantly boosted the company’s bottom line.

Finance costs increased by 3% to Rs1bn, but the company benefitted from a 21% reduction in final and minimum tax expenses and a 46.4% decline in overall taxation, supporting the surge in profitability.
