Lucky Cement commissions 28.8mw wind power project

October 22, 2024 (MLN): Lucky Cement Limited (PSX: LUCK) has completed and commissioned a 28.8 MW captive wind power project at the company's Karachi Plant, the company's filing on PSX revealed today.

The project has been completed within the stipulated timelines and costs and has commenced operations as of October 21, 2024.

"With this achievement, our installed power generation capacity for self-consumption from renewable sources now stands at 55%, including Solar Power Plants and Waste Heat Recovery plants at both locations (Karachi & Pezu)," the notification reads.

Sustainability and adoption of clean energy have remained a cornerstone of the company's strategy and the installation of the Wind power project is a testament to its commitment to conserving energy and promoting green energy resources, it added.

Lucky Cement already operates Pakistan’s largest solar captive plant, with a capacity of 42.8 MW, with 5.1 MW reflex energy storage solution at its Pezu Plant.

The company's investment in renewable energy will result in cost savings as well as a reduction of the country's reliance on imported fuel.
