KSE-100 marks its second day in green as mini budget prompts trading activity

January 22, 2019 (MLN): The trading activity on KSE-100 ended on a brighter note, as the upcoming mini-budget due to be announced tomorrow prompted positive sentiments within investors. The index triumphantly marked its second day in the green by gaining 358 points, and closed at 39,902 points.

Sectors such as Commercial Banks and Fertilizer profited the most as their combined contribution to the index amounted to 202 points. The scrips of HBL (+2.59%), BAHL (+2.85%), HUBC (+1.76%) and UBL (+1.84%) specifically earned the maximum gains.

Within a range of 473 points, the index touched an intraday high of 39,959 points and an intraday low of 39,485 points. Nearly 88 million shares were traded today for the scrips listed on the benchmark index with their total value recorded at Rs 5.4 billion.

On a similar note, the broader KSE All Share index gained around 159 points by the day end and closed at 29,238 points. It traded nearly 136 million shares today, having a value at Rs 6.8 billion.
