KSE – 100 index gains 9.51 points

The Karachi Stock Exchange closed just 9 points up on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. The index closed just 9.5 points up on Tuesday after falling 441.89 points at its session lows. Index traded within a limited range of 505 points, with total volume of 113.375 million with a vlaue of 10.824 billion slightly up from yesterday's 10.576 billion.

The index took a hit today as National Refinery, Attock Cement, and Attock Refinery reported earnings much below expectations. NRL -0.10% stock saw its stock prices dwindle after it reported profits shrinking by 59.09% during the half year ending December 30, 2017. ACPL -2.70%, 1st half year profit after taxation for fiscal year 2018 clocked in at Rs. 1.152 billion against expectations of Rs. 1.149 billion by analysts. Attock Refinery Limited (ATRL) today posted six month results for the second half of the year 2017, ATRL +0.85% Profits fell 89.05% to Rs. 165 million from Refinery Operations.

Sector-wise all share index turnover was led by Cement (44.787 million), Engineering (23.708 million), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (17.854 million) with Textile Composite (9.361 million) and Power Generation & Distribution (7.448 million) stocks trailing at the bottom.

KSE – 100 Index at the day end moved a total of +9.51 points up by +0.02%, closing in at 44907.20 points with index high-low range of 44970.78 – 44465.31.

KSE – All Share Index Volume was at 226.341 million shares, value of shares traded for all-shares index reached PKR 13.325 billion.
