KSE 100 Index down 76 points at day end

KSE-100 index shed more than 76 points during today’s session owing to the rumors in the market regarding an expected delay in election. The rumors of election sent the markets downwards despite Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) holding a presser informing the timing of elections to remain as announced.

Globally, Italian political turmoil has sent the global stocks in the world on a downward spiral. Asia stock markets fell sharply and the currencies including Euro sank to a 10-month low against the US dollar.

Volume traded at KSE – 100 index increased by 24.2 percent during the session after total volume clocked in at 83.85 million versus 67.49 million yesterday.

Commercial Bank, Cement and Fertilizer Sector’s companies during today’s session was at the bottom today after collectively taking away more than 161.78 points.

Sector-wise all share index top sector turnover was led by Commercial Banks (31.67 million), Chemical (12.35 million), and Technology and Communication (11.91 million).

KSE - 100 Index at the day end moved a total of -76.26 points down by 0.18 percent, closing in at 42,546.48 with index high – low range of 42,773.81– 42,337.51

KSE – All Share Index Volume was at 133.73 million shares, the value of shares traded for all-shares index reached PKR 5.35 billion.

The index moved in the range of 436.30 points.

41 companies closed up, whereas 43 were down at the day end.
