KSE – 100 gains 531 points

Index was up 531 points during the day after a series of unmoved sessions during the last two weeks. Stock markets have garnered positive investor confidence during the last few days as political noise takes backseat.

Index went through a significantly healthy trading activity through the day as investors strengthened their positions in Oil & Gas, Steel, Fertilizer and Auto Sector scrips. Volumes were led by the twin gas giants; SSGC and SNGPL.

Energy stocks have seen a significant surge in the recent few weeks as bullish rally in the oil prices continues amid speculations over extensions in cuts from OEPC members and Russia. The official decision on cuts extension will be taken on 30th of November when all the major oil exporters will meet at Vienna to attend OPEC meeting. Oil prices have given the energy and oil stocks around the world an impetus to push upward after a long dry spell.

Fertilizer, Commercial Banks, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies and Cement sector scrips took the index upward during the session adding more than 327 points to the index. Index performance was significantly higher today as investor confidence resumes.

Sector-wise all share index turnover was led by Engineering (22.27 million), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (20.111 million), and Cement (15.396 million) stocks, and with Oil & Gas Exploration Cos. (7.05 million) and Cable & Electrical Goods (7 million) stocks trailing at the bottom.

KSE-100 Index at the day end moved a total of +531 points up by 1.29%, closing at 41790.16 points. Index Volume was 78.829 million shares, value of shares traded was PKR 8.45 billion with index high-low range of 41851.33 – 41259.16.

The index movement was limited within the 592.17 points range.

74 companies closed up, whereas 18 were down at the day end.
