The imports of agriculture machinery during the financial year 2017-18, witnessed about 4.77 percent growth. The country imported $124.412 million worth of machinery in FY17-18, to improve the mechanization of the agricultural sector in the country, against an import worth $118.743 million during the corresponding period of the previous year, reported Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
During the period under review, other machinery worth $ 3.666 billion were imported, which posted about 9.28 percent growth when compared to the imports worth $3.354 billion during the same period last year.
Meanwhile, in last fiscal year, telecom machinery worth $1.534 billion was imported as compared to the imports worth $1.351 billion during same period, last year.
On the other hand, mobile phones worth $847.654 million were imported against an import worth $709.690 million during same period last year.
By the end of last fiscal year, the country imported transport group goods valued at $4.383 billion as compared to the imports of US$ 3.327 billion during the same period of last year, demonstrating a growth of 31.74%, the data revealed.
It may be recalled that machinery group imports into the country during last financial year ended on June 31, 2018 stood at $11.596 billion, as compared to the imports worth $11.754 billion during the corresponding period of last year.
