Govt sets Rs32,000 monthly minimum wage

November 07, 2023 (MLN): The federal government has declared the minimum rates of the wages at Rs32,000 per month, as per a notification issued by the finance division.

These minimum rates of wages will come into force with effect from July 01, 2023.

The minimum wage/gross salary is applicable for all the Civil Employees of the Federal Government as well as the civilians paid from Defence estimates including contingent paid staff and contract employees employed against civil posts in Basic Pay Scales on standard terms and conditions of contract employment.

Accordingly, those whose gross salary is less than Rs32,000 will be allowed the difference as Special Allowance.

To note, earlier in the month, the government had decided to enhance financial remuneration paid to key people hired from the private sector into the bureaucracy, for MP1, MP2, and MP3 positions.
