Government urged to provide electricity at subsidized rates to textile industry

The National Assembly Standing Committee on Textile Industry on Wednesday recommended that the Federal Government should provide electricity at subsidized rates to the small and medium level Textile Industry.

The Committee meeting was chaired by Khawaja Ghulam Rasool Koreja, MNA at the Ministry of Textile Industry in Islamabad.

The Committee showed satisfaction over the improving situation of different projects going on under the umbrella of Lahore Garment City.

It praised the revenue performance which has reportedly exceeded Rs. 125 million over the period of last four years, regarding the issues being faced by the Textile Sector and particularly by the value added segments of the Textile Industry.

The meeting was attended by Rana Umer Nazir Khan, Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari, Malik Muhammad Uzair Khan, Malik Shakir Bashir Awan, Belum Hasnain, Mr. Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Aqib Ullah Khan, Abdul Rashid Godil, Jamshaid Ahmed Dasti, Col. (R) Dr. Amirullah Marwat and Romina, Khurshid Alam, MNAs, Minister for Textile Industry and officers of the Ministry of Textile Industry.
