June 10, 2024 (MLN): Go Energy Pvt Ltd will set up a 500 MW floating solar power project on Keenjhar Lake to supply electricity to K-Electric through STDC's transmission line, Energy Minister Nasir Shah stated during the board meeting of the Sindh Transmission and Dispatch Company.

The board meeting held in the committee room of the Energy Department also led to additional crucial decisions and announcements.

As per the details of the meeting, Sindh Transmission and Dispatch Company (STDC) will contract with private companies to lay the electricity transmission line.

This initiative is part of a broader plan to enhance the electricity transmission infrastructure in Sindh.

Moreover, the energy minister approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the transmission of 600 MW of electricity prepared by private entities.

Nasir Hussain Shah further said that both Gul Ahmed Group Power Company and Gul Ahmed Renewable Energy will produce 50 megawatts of electricity.

“They want to supply this electricity to Gul Ahmed Textile Mills through the transmission line of STDC,” he added.

The meeting also led to the approval of a MoU between STDC and Gul Ahmed Group, as confirmed by the Chairman.

Nasir Hussain Shah also mentioned that the government of Sindh has established Sindh Public Procurement (SEPRA) compared to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to provide cheap electricity to the people.

“Officers and employees with good performance will be awarded with both awards and rewards Nasir,” he concluded.
