Foreign investors invest Rs12bn in 2022 for CSR initiatives: OICCI

February 09, 2023 (MLN): Foreign investors in Pakistan have shown their commitment to supporting the socio-economic development of the communities as the members of the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) have invested over Rs12 billion compared to 11bn in CSR initiatives, reaching 46 million direct beneficiaries across Pakistan, the latest report issued by OICCI revealed on Thursday.

The report highlights the various philanthropic projects carried out by OICCI members, focusing on sectors such as education, healthcare, livelihood, infrastructural development, and environmental sustainability.

89% of the participating members supported health and well-being initiatives, while 75% contributed to quality education. About two-thirds of the members focused on promoting gender equality.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2022 floods, OICCI members led by example and actively participated in relief activities, announcing generous commitments of around Rs9bn in addition to their annual CSR contributions.

The OICCI, representing the collective voice of over 200 foreign investors from 31 different countries, contributes around one-third of Pakistan's total tax revenue, besides facilitating the transfer of technology and skills and providing employment to a considerable number of people.

The report further demonstrates the commitment of foreign investors in Pakistan to giving back to society and making a positive impact in the communities in which they operate.
