Foreign investors buy Rs2.51bn worth of securities via SCRA

December 29, 2023 (MLN): Foreign investors remained net buyers for the sixth consecutive week as the net purchase of securities for the week ended December 22, 2023 clocked in at Rs3.19bn, as compared to a net purchase worth Rs2.32bn recorded last week.

According to a weekly report on Specially Convertible Rupee Accounts (SCRA) released by the State Bank of Pakistan, the gross sale of securities was recorded at Rs10.34bn during the week, which is around 4.92% lower than the figures recorded last week.

Similarly, the total purchase of securities stood at Rs13.54bn, which is 2.57% higher than the prior week, resulting in a net purchase of Rs3.19bn for the week.

Over the week, the overall purchase of securities increased by Rs339.68m while the net sale of securities decreased by Rs534.7m.

Apart from this, the inflow of remittance into these accounts stood at Rs6.08bn, while its outflow has been reported at Rs1.51bn.

The closing balance of SCRA was recorded at Rs26.43bn, which marks a rise of Rs1.43bn over the week.
