Dar appreciates AIIB's $500mn loan to Pakistan

December 1, 2022 (MLN): Finance Minister Ishaq Dar appreciated the timely provision of $500 million transferred by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and shared that this financing will contribute to maintaining the external account stability, a press release issued by Finance Division on Thursday showed.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar held a meeting with the Governor State Bank of Pakistan Mr. Jameel Ahmad at the Governor House.

During the meeting, FM discussed various measures taken by the Federal Government to stabilize the economy and hoped that the results of these measures will soon be reflected in enhanced economic activity.

He further said that the market has responded positively to the inflow of AIIB loans and the further inflows in the pipeline from international financial institutions and friendly countries will boost our foreign reserves.

“SBP is fully committed to supporting the process of economic revival as per the policies of the present government”, SBP Governor said.

In conclusion, the Governor SBP thanked the Finance Minister for the continuous support by the present government for the policy initiatives taken by the SBP.
