National Fertilizer Development Centre today released fertilizer supply-demand situation for mid-November 2017, along-with outlook for Rabi 2017-18.
Total Fertilizer Sales – September, 2017
- Total Fertilizer off-take during the month of October, 2017 was 482 thousand tonnes compared to 526 thousand tonnes during October, 2016 (an 8.5% decrease).
Nutrients
- Nitrogen Sales during Oct, 2017 were 272 Thousand tonnes compared to Oct, 2016 Nitrogen off take of 214 Thousand Tonnes; a decrease of 1.4 percent.
- Phosphate Sales during Oct, 2017 were 202 Thousand tonnes compared to Oct, 2016 Nitrogen off take of 246 Thousand Tonnes; a decrease of 17.7 percent.
- Potash Sales during Oct, 2017 were 7.8 Thousand tonnes compared to Oct, 2016 Potash off take of 4.8; an increase of 60.9 percent.
UREA & DAP
- Urea Sales during Oct, 2017 were at 375 Thousand tonnes compared to Oct, 2016 Urea off take of 360 thousand, an increase of 4.2 percent.
- DAP Sales during Oct, 2017 were at 387 Thousand tonnes compared to Oct, 2016 DAP off take of 501; a decrease of 22.7 percent.

- Fertilizer production during October, 2017 was at 608 thousand tonnes.
Product Wise Break-up
- Urea production was at 440 thousand tonnes; 72.5 percent of Total Production
- DAP production was at 74 thousand tonnes
- CAN production was at 39 thousand tonnes
- NP production was at 38 thousand tonnes
- SSP production was at 8 thousand tonnes
- NPK production was at 9 thousand tonnes
Imported Supplies
Total Supplies Imported during the month amounted to 144 Thousand tonnes.
- DAP imports were at 241 thousand tonnes
- MOP imports were at 2.6 thousand tonnes
- SOP imports were at 4.7 thousand tonnes
- SSP imports were at 1.9 thousand tonnes

Fertilizer Prices – Domestic & International
Domestic Price Scenario
During October, 2017 increase in the prices of all fertilizers was observed. The prices of urea (Sona), urea (others) and CAN increased by 2.3, 1.5 and 0.8 per cent respectively over September 2017. The prices of DAP, NP and SSP (G) also increased by 1.0, 0.6 and 0.4 per cent respectively.

International Price Scenario:
Fob bulk China urea price was quoted at US $ 265-285/t against 235-270/t of previous month. Middle East bulk urea was set at US $ 271-295/t. DAP price during October 2017 was referred at US $ 318-327/st fob bulk in US Gulf, and US $ 360-370/t in China market. MAP and TSP prices remained at the level of US $ 335-345 and 280-285/t respectively.
Ex-Karachi price of urea was in the range of Rs. 1852-2051 per 50 kg bag while that of DAP was in the range of Rs. 2461-2583 per 50 kg bag during October, 2017.
