FFC deepens farmer connectivity

November 04, 2026 (MLN): Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) is accelerating its strategic modernization and expanding its footprint across Pakistan’s agricultural landscape through major digital and commercial milestones.
Underpinning its readiness
for future operational efficiencies, the enterprise marked the successful
deployment of the "RISE with SAP" digital transformation platform to
streamline integrated operations.
Concurrently, FFC widened its market presence by elevating its Urea share to 49% (up from 47% in SPLY) bolstered by a 10% volume increase in Urea offtakes to 2.16 million tonnes (2,160 KT) within an overall industry market that expanded 5% to 4.40 million tonnes.
In the DAP segment, FFC
retained its dominant 68% market share with 525 KT sold, even as broader
industry DAP offtakes contracted by 3% YoY to 775 KT.
In a significant institutional breakthrough, FFC achieved a long-term “AAA” rating from PACRA, standing out as the only non-banking, non-energy corporation with no government holding to secure the country’s highest credit grade.
Advancing direct agronomic
engagement, its next-generation retail ecosystem under the Sona Centre
initiative reached 244 centres (comprising 100 hubs and 144 spokes) serving
140,000 registered farmers across 2.6 million acres, spurring exponential
distribution gains in both Urea (up 240% to 92.6 KT) and DAP (up 177% to 22.3
KT).
During its Corporate
Briefing Session for the third quarter and nine months ended September 2026
(3QCY26/9MCY26), management evaluated prevailing operational headwinds, market
dynamics, and underlying farm-level economics.
While agricultural net
returns per acre improved year-on-year across key crops with wheat net income
recovering to RS 48,642 per acre (from a loss of RS 10,695 per acre in
2024–25), alongside improvements in sugarcane (RS 79,870/are), fine rice (RS
61,114/acre), and cotton (RS 27,016/acre) management observed that overall farm
profitability remains below 2022–23 levels.
On the operating front,
persistent elevated international phosphoric acid prices and inflationary
pressures remain significant challenges for the fertilizer industry, raising
DAP manufacturing costs and tying up working capital.
Consequently,
stock-in-trade rose 130% to RS 87.8 billion from RS 38.2 billion in December
2025, driven primarily by higher phosphoric acid and DAP inventories.
At the close of September
2026, total industry DAP inventory stood at approximately 260 KT, of which FFC
held 181 KT (70% of industry inventory), whereas total industry urea inventory
stood at approximately 649 KT, with FFC holding 88 KT (14%).
FFC’s borrowings increased
37% to RS84.1bn as of Sep 2026 from Rs61.3bn in Dec 2025, primarily due to its
~RS31bn investment in PIA.
On the financial front, FFC
posted a 13% increase in its consolidated net profit for the nine months ended
September 30, 2026 (9MCY26), reaching RS 71.02bn compared to RS 63.04bn in the
corresponding period last year.
Alongside the financial
results, the board of directors declared an interim cash dividend of RS18.50
per share (185%).
