May 26, 2025 (MLN): The country's economy has been placed at the heart of the upcoming federal budget, which aims to set a clear strategic direction for Pakistan's economic future, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said.

Speaking at an event in Islamabad, the minister stressed that the budget goes beyond the traditional framework of revenue and expenditure.

He said efforts are underway to make the upcoming budget a more strategic document, aligning with long-term national goals.

Aurangzeb highlighted the importance of export-led growth and expressed satisfaction over the economy crossing the $400 billion mark.

He noted that Pakistan’s recent economic turnaround and macroeconomic stability are being acknowledged by the international community.

The finance minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to ongoing structural reforms, according to the press release issued today.

These include efforts in taxation, energy, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), and the rationalization of the federal government.

He added that the privatization of SOEs will be expedited as part of the broader reform agenda aimed at achieving sustainable growth.
