August 20, 2019: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has gathered data on private schools and tuition centers that offer up to O-level and A-level education, along with pre-nursery training schools and academies that are running highly profitable businesses, but are not registered with the Board.

Reportedly, these institutions have not been filing returns or declaring their incomes. In order to collect this data, FBR ran a thorough check of every zone within Karachi.

It has been deduced that there are up to 6,324 schools that stand accused.

Previously, the FBR also sent notices to 228 garment stores and boutiques, and 30 hospitals for not being a part of the tax net.

The physicians and surgeons working at Pakistan Medical and Dental Centre (PMDC) were allegedly not registered with the FBR.

Hospitals were also asked to provide information on the doctors practicing there, their incomes and other relevant details.
