ECB gears up for another rate cut amid slowing inflation

October 17, 2024 (MLN): European Central Bank policymakers will meet on Thursday, as easing price pressures and slowing economic activity in the eurozone push them towards a potential interest rate cut, as APP reported.

Gathering in Slovenia, away from their Frankfurt headquarters, ECB President Christine Lagarde hinted at the changing economic landscape while touring a market in Ljubljana.

With eurozone inflation dropping to 1.8% in September, below the ECB's 2% target for the first time in three years, and Slovenia's rate down to 0.6%, a rate cut seems increasingly likely.

French central bank governor François Villeroy de Galhau confirmed that "victory against inflation is in sight," signalling further cuts may follow.
