Domestic cement dispatches fall 6% in Jan 2025

February 03, 2025 (MLN): The total cement dispatches stood at 3.895 million tons for January 2025, according to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), reflecting a 6% decline compared to 4.154 million tons in December 2024.

However, on a year-on-year (YoY) basis, cement dispatches showed a 14% increase from 3.414mn tons recorded in January 2024.

Export dispatches, on the other hand, declined by 26% month-on-month (MoM), falling from 784,000 tons in December 2024 to 582,000 tons in January 2025, but saw a 30% increase compared to 447,000 tons in January 2024.

Total cement dispatches during January 2025 stood at 3.895mn tons, representing a 6% MoM decline from 4.154mn tons in December 2024 but a 14% year-on-year (YoY) increase from 3.414mn tons in January 2024.

In North Pakistan, cement dispatches in January 2025 totaled 2.728mn tons, reflecting a 6% month-on-month (MoM) decline from 2.900mn tons in December 2024.

However, YoY dispatches grew by 12% from 2.434mn tons in January 2024.

Local dispatches in the North stood at 2.669mn tons, down 4% MoM, but showing a 12% YoY growth.

Exports from the North declined 48% MoM to 59,000 tons but registered a 21% YoY increase compared to January 2024.

In South Pakistan, total cement dispatches for January 2025 were 1.167mn tons, reflecting a 7% MoM decline from 1.254mn tons in December 2024.

However, YoY dispatches surged by 19% from 980,000 tons in January 2024.

Local dispatches in the South stood at 644,000 tons, marking a 10% MoM increase and an 11% YoY growth.

Exports from the South fell 22% MoM to 522,000 tons, but YoY figures rose 31% from January 2024.

During the first seven months of the fiscal year 2025 (7MFY25), total cement dispatches amounted to 26.827mn tons, reflecting a 2% decline compared to 27.295mn tons in 7MFY24.

Local dispatches stood at 21.436mn tons, down 8% YoY from 23.196mn tons in 7MFY24.

Export dispatches surged by 32% YoY, rising to 5.392mn tons from 4.099mn tons in the same period last year.

North-based mills dispatched 18.906mn tons during 7MFY25, down 5% YoY, while South-based mills saw an 8% YoY increase, dispatching 7.922mn tons.
