Dedicated Directorate General to be established for CPEC: Collector Customs

September 12, 2018 (MLN): Pakistan Customs is in the process of establishing a dedicated Directorate General in view of increasing CPEC related activities, while the institution continues to be assisted by Customs Quetta in the meantime, said Collector Ashraf Ali while talking to local media.

He also apprised the media of the steps being taken by the department towards removing the hurdles being faced by traders, so that an effective framework could be established for the smooth flow of legitimate trading activities.

According to the Collector, Customs Quetta has plans to expand its jurisdiction of customs control to inaccessible areas through the establishment of customs stations along the way. The department also plans to make the customs process more transparent than before, and at the same time, expand the scope of non-intrusive inspections.

The department also intends to bring in some technological up gradations to their systems for the speedy clearance of goods, as well as for the expansion of the coverage of Customs Computerized System (WeBOC), besides improving on its data based risk management system to ensure a secure business environment within the country.
