Dar, IMF ended meeting with no major conclusion

January 10, 2023 (MLN): The meeting between Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar and International Monetary Fund (IMF) officials has been ended with no major conclusion.

During the meeting, FM reiterated the commitment to complete the IMF program.

The meeting was held between Finance Minister and IMF Mission Chief to Pakistan Mr. Nathan Porter, on the side lines of International Conference on 'Climate Resilient Pakistan' at Geneva on January 09, 2023.

"Both parties discussed the challenges to regional economies in the wake of Climate change”, according to the statement published by Ministry of Finance.

"The support from friendly countries will not only help with flood relief but also create fiscal space in Pakistan to implement the ongoing IMF program", Dar said during Geneva Conference.

In 2023, Pakistan’s needs around $32bn to fund its external account requitement.

Since taking the helm of the economy, Finance Minister is in continuous discussion but remain unsuccesful to lock the IMF ninth review deal.
