DAP sales grow by 25% over the year

May 24, 2019 (MLN): National Fertilizer Development Centre (NFDC) has recorded DAP offtakes for April 2019 at 86.2 thousand tonnes, which shows a 25% growth in demand over the year and brings this fiscal year’s total sales to 1.8 million tonnes.

Total DAP offtake in April 2018 was recorded at 68.8 thousand tonnes.

According to data provided by NFDC, Punjab was the biggest consumer of DAP this month, given that the province has the largest agricultural area along with the added benefit of weather conditions which highly favor agriculture.

Over 17 thousand tonnes of DAP was sold in Punjab while nearly 6000 tonnes were sold in Sindh.

DAP offtake in Punjab and KP widened by 41% and 2.2x respectively, but on the other hand the sales recorded in Sindh and Baluchistan declined by 8% and 46%.

Total availability of DAP during April, 2019 was 706 thousand tonnes which comprised 599 thousand tonnes of opening inventory, 73 thousand tonnes of domestic production and 34 thousand tonnes of imported supplies.

Since the total consumption of DAP in April was 86 thousand tonnes, around 620 thousand tonnes are now left for use at a later date.
