The famous transport service Daweoo terminal was sealed in Peshawar by the Municipal department over non-payment of property rent, creating problems for the commuters and cargo service users.

An official of Peshawar Terminal office was reported saying that the Municipal department has sealed the terminal over evasion of property rent worth around Rs 10 million. The terminal was earlier sealed in 2016 and the following year by Excise department over non-payment of tax.

He said the Daewoo bus service was to pay 17.2 million under the head of property tax in 2016, over which its terminal was completely closed suspending all the services and operations including cargo and transport.

An official of Municipal department said that the company failed to pay rent for the current year despite repeated notices, ultimately resulting in the closure of the company’s operations and services.

He said that if the company fails to pay the rent, the Municipal would recover the money by selling its buses and other things present at the terminal.

Daewoo is currently using its Nowshera terminal for cargo and passengers for Peshawar city.
