CPI for Transport reports highest increase in last five years

November 5, 2018 (MLN): The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Transport group has increased by 2.34% over September 2018 and increased by 18.61% over corresponding month of the last year i.e. October 2017, as per the reports issued by PBS.

The index points of 210 for the month of October 2018 were reported to be the highest in last five years, crossing the benchmark of 205 points in September 2014.

The prices of Motor Fuel, the item with the highest weightage, increased by 3.23% on a MoM basis and 26.41% on a YoY basis.

Moreover, prices of Transport services demonstrated an increase of 2.04% on a MoM basis and 17.74% on a YoY basis.

Furthermore, prices of Motor vehicles jacked up by 1.73% on a MoM basis and 12.94% on a YoY basis.
