Cotton arrivals amount to 4.02 million bales as of October, 1

October 03, 2018 (MLN): Cotton arrivals as of October 1, 2018 have observed a marginal growth of 0.74%, as per the data released by Pakistan Cotton Ginners’ Association (PCGA), today.

Around 4.02 million bales of cotton have arrived at various ginneries in Pakistan as of October 1st, 2018 as compared to the arrival of 3.99 million bales during the corresponding period of last year.  

Of these 4.02 million bales, 1.8 million bales of cotton arrived at ginneries in Punjab, while 2.2 million bales arrived in Sindh.

Cotton arrival in Punjab during the period increased by 139.5 thousand bales over previous year, demonstrating an increase of 8.3%. Meanwhile, arrival in the province of Sindh fell short of 110 thousand bales as compared to last year’s arrival, down by 4.8%.

The number of bales sold to textile sector has increased to 2.99 million bales and exporters bought around 65 thousand bales of cotton, while 963.8 thousand bales went unsold during the period.

Currently around 777 ginning mills are operational in Pakistan.
