June 16, 2026 (MLN): Boosting investment, expanding exports, and fostering innovation are critical to achieving sustainable economic growth and creating employment opportunities in Pakistan, Federal Minister for Board of Investment (BOI) Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh said on Tuesday.
Addressing the 17th Edition of the Brand of the Year Awards
2026, the minister emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the
government and the private sector to unlock the country’s economic potential
and improve living standards.
He said entrepreneurs and businesses remain key contributors
to economic development and stressed the importance of promoting Pakistan as a
competitive destination for local and foreign investment, as reported by APP.
According to the minister, strengthening the investment
climate and encouraging private-sector growth are essential for long-term
prosperity.
Highlighting socioeconomic challenges, Sheikh said expanding
economic opportunities and creating jobs should remain a national priority,
particularly at a time when a sizeable portion of the population continues to
face financial hardships.
He also underscored the importance of equipping young people
with modern education and technology-based skills to meet evolving market
requirements.
The minister noted that the government is working to improve
the ease of doing business through reforms aimed at reducing unnecessary
regulatory barriers and facilitating investment across various sectors of the
economy.
He said incentives available under Special Economic Zones
(SEZs), including tax concessions and industrial support measures, are designed
to attract investment, boost industrial activity, and generate new avenues for
economic growth.
Expressing confidence in Pakistan’s entrepreneurial
capabilities, Sheikh said the country possesses a dynamic business community
and a competitive workforce that can play a significant role in driving
economic progress and enhancing productivity.
During the ceremony, awards were presented to leading brands
in recognition of their performance and consumer confidence. Brands Foundation
Pakistan Founder and Chief Executive Officer Shaikh Rashid Alam also presented
a commemorative shield to the minister.
The annual Brand of the Year Awards, organized by Brands
Foundation Pakistan, recognize outstanding brands based on consumer preference
and expert evaluation, highlighting excellence across multiple sectors of the
economy.
The BOI reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating investors and promoting policy reforms aimed at positioning Pakistan as a preferred destination for business and investment.
