December 11, 2019 (MLN): The KSE-100 index lost around 133 points in Wednesday’s session and closed at 40,531 points, after being subjected to a slightly volatile session.

Despite making a good start, the index quickly lost impetus as investors indulged in profit-taking activity, thus making the benchmark index lose the gains it made in yesterday’s session.

The Index traded in a range of 459.79 points or 1.13 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 40,910.77 and a low of 40,450.98.

Of the 98 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 40 closed up 55 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 205.86 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 50 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 44 points, Cement with 28 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 23 points and Automobile Assembler with 20 points.

The most points taken off the index was by PPL which stripped the index of 32 points followed by HUBC with 28 points, DAWH with 18 points, MCB with 18 points and LUCK with 13 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Chemical with 14 points, Textile Composite with 11 points, Automobile Parts & Accessories with 10 points, Miscellaneous with 7 points and Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 7 points.

The most points added to the index was by MARI which contributed 37 points followed by FFC with 14 points, COLG with 13 points, SYS with 9 points and SHFA with 7 points.

All Share Volume increased by 50.41 Million to 305.03 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.19.04 Billion.

Total companies traded were 387 compared to 375 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 144 closed up, 223 closed down while 20 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 5,437 to 96,771.

Value Traded increased by 1.63 Billion to Rs.10.85 Billion
